FYI I handle approx 30,000 - 40,000 messages/day (Athlon 1.2/512Meg/ATA100 7200RPM disks Raid 0/1). I've noticed no appreciable increase in processor use or memory use.
I'm using the whole Declude package (Virus Pro/Junkmail Pro/Hijack). I personally feel that my server is actually working less than it was before. Before catching viruses, the server spent many queue runs trying to deliver hundreds of virus messages (viruses like Hybris that 90% of the time end up trying to send to undeliverable addresses). Instead of trying over and over until the queue expires, these messages are scanned and dealt with only once by deleting them (or holding them if you so choose for inspection). The number of messages in queue used to average around 150-250, now it floats around 30-40 (I've never seen it above 50 now). I'm sure (as Scott is a pretty smart guy) that Scott's statement is true that you will start to see some appreciable processor needs as the volume increases BUT it is my opinion that you are money AHEAD to spend on more processor/memory/disk (whatever it takes to acceptably run it), instead of spending time and resources (that all cost money) to fix the aftermath of a virus that could have been prevented. - Tony > -----Original Message----- > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of R.
