Most of the scanners now do a reasonable job at decoding/scanning MIME. They are spotty on successfully cleaning the files. There is no guarantee that the cleaned file will be a valid .MBX file once cleaned, not to mention the other potential problems that the scanner is not going to follow the imail standards for locking the file, causing potential problems.
