I don't know what the logging is, but if it's packets, I'll bet >they're being filtered somehow. pop3 is tcp, so I doubt any packet filter is stripping out pieces of the pop3 session. packet filtering is usually ip- and port-based, not content-based. it can block protocols by protocol number, but if it lets any pop3 through, it will let all of pop3 session through, will not truncate it as packet-filtering policy. But it certainly appears that something is breaking your pop3 sessions.
