Anthony, The *only* reliable way to generate interpretable bounces is to send individual messages, each with an envelope sender suffixed to include the intended recipient: MAIL FROM:<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>. This will cause bounces to go to this sender, which will thus create (on Imail at least) a new folder for each bounced user. Frankly, you shouldn't tell your user about it, since it's probably too complex for her to use with her MUA and she will drive you insane trying to implement it. But there it is for your scrapbook.
Also FYI, our advanced mailing list manager for Imail (under development), like most full-featured list servers, uses this technology (called variable envelope return-path, or VERP) to send out automated list-scrubbing probes.
