Great info... Thanks a ton. This will be resolved shortly.

Here is a dumb question, and I think anyone who has restricted relaying
has seen this, but I couldn't "read between the lines" in M$ support
site about Outlook 97:

"All that is required for authentication is a valid account name which
can be found in the Mailbox Information section of the Internet Mail
Service for a users' specific profile"
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;q197869

As I go into each local machine to set the config to "My Outgoing server
requires authentication", I found that Outlook 2000 and 2002 have this
option, but 97 doesn't.

Does the quote above (and y'alls experience) mean that Outlook 97 is
always and automatically set for this, which then means that I only have
to make this change for non-97 users?

sit down, my son, what is your question

that's gawdawful high.

When I took over admin of a list server last August, it had 2% to 4%
bounce rate. Then I installed ecartis with auto-bounce mgmt and bounes
hover around 0.5%.

10% bad addresses will drastically slow delivery of good mail.

don't feel proud, your luck is the same as everyone's,

real list servers, like ecartis, mailmain, ezmlm have automatic bounce
mgmt, no need to add on.
