Norm,

Thanks for your astoundingly in-depth reply and your indulgence in
this issue. Welcome to the list!

No real concept at this point, but your spending estimate per server
would likely be met. An unlimited license would probably have to be
more than your projection, as some people have 100+ servers.

The DLL is not now, and isn't planned to be, a COM DLL. It's a C
library (xproc) for SQL, since that's the speediest way of embedding
additional functionality server-side. It would ship with (encrypted)
procedures and triggers, and a GUI manager to add the appropriate SQL
extensions for domains of your choosing.

Support would certainly be offered (via private mailing list), and we
wouldn't ship anything without a public beta period.

Unfortunately, this isn't going to happen, as the best route to this
stuff is through the Imail COM API, which is itself undocumented and
is said to be not ready for prime time (Imail itself doesn't use the
COM methods). Can I ask what general purpose you see for such objects
being exposed on SQL Server? Or did you just need a general window
into this functionality that doesn't use POP3?

Afraid not: rent to pay, kids to feed, et al.

I hope someone will speak up, if so!

Somehow, the reverse engineering of Registry keys doesn't seem likely
to be a problem. :))) But here it is on the list for all to see.

Thanks again for your help,

Sandy
