This sounds more like it is on the network level since IMail didn't even see
the connection request. What happens when you telnet to the SMTP port, do
you get the IMail banner? How about the POP port? Are there delays? If so
you might have to increase your timeout in the mail client. since it is
peculiar to 8:00AM I would tend to think that the server is getting very
busy for a while as the morning rush starts.
