Is there some setting you used to do this or is this through a different
email client?  I am using the IMail standard web client (7.06) and a user
with a hyphen in their username can log in without problems.

Of course, we can programmatically prevent hyphenated usernames from
logging in, but it seems the default install of IMail will permit this.
