FYI, Declude doesn't open a DOS session to run the AV software. It creates
a new Windows process. Depending on the software you use, it may be a
16bit or 32bit session, however.

This is the first time we've heard of this issue happening with
Declude. Please E-mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] and describe what is happening.

That is incorrect.
The problem that you are referring to (which occurs with IMail, with or
without Declude or IMail AntiVirus) is an issue where Windows (NT, 2000,
and likely XP as well) have an undocumented "mystery heap" that is used up
when *ANY* process is started by a service. It has nothing to do with
DOS. It can happen even with too many copies of "Notepad" (if they are
started with a service).
The latest version of Declude should completely prevent this problem,
according to the best information we have obtained from Microsoft. So
running Declude will actually make your server more stable as far as this
issue is concerned.

This, too, is incorrect.
First, you can have many copies of Declude and/or virus scanners running
simultaneously (Declude Virus can limit the number of simultaneous scanner
processes, if you wish). Second, even if some of them were to hang, it
would NOT stop the SMTPD/SMTP32 processes. And, Declude Virus does check
to see if the virus scanner hangs -- if it does, Declude Virus will
terminate the scanner, deliver the E-mail, and record an error to the log file.
