IMGate used DNS voraciously, many queries for every single message, so if
your DNS is not in good shape, you should install DNS on the IMGate machine.

>Would it be that much faster?

hard to measure, but accessing local DNS and its cache will be faster than
accessing across the network.

>I am looking for

IMGate does lots of DNS lookups for every msg, and can scan every msg
end-to-end for filtering. But since that's back-office work, it really
doesn't impact delays for the front-offoce users.

In addition to DoS defense, here's the kind of message reject stats, for
yesterday, from an ISP in LA whose IMGate + BIND I installed and maintain

       5 SMTP invalid [EMAIL PROTECTED]
       9 RBL socks.relays.osirusoft.com
