You're  right,  it  doesn't  work  the way you expected, and couldn't,
since  bounce  messages  have  such  a  wide  variety  of formats. But
Ipswitch never said it would:

The  problem  with  this suggestion is that the MUA needs to support a
REDIRECT,  not a FORWARD, and most common MUAs do not. Mine, The Bat!,
does,  and I recommend you get a copy for them. You could also build a
little  one  in  VBScript  with  JMail  or  ASPMail  if  you have some
programming skill and want to "brand" it.

I would also suggest, at some point, using a list manager designed for
automatic bounce processing, such as Ecartis.
