I've setup my Postfix gateways to require helo/ehlo, as well.  If they don't
announce themselves, then I don't want to receive their messages.

    I don't know about the RFC but just as an interesting side note
    the MS SMTP server will not accept mail without a EHLO or HELO
    first.  Just keeps giving a 503 error send ehlo first.
