I just wanted to make certain I understood the issue.

You seem to be saying that anything other than mail.domain.com will
lead to errors in other IMAIL related applications because of the way
Imail programmers are handling the url constructs in these other and
future applications.

The url construct is so well known and understood yet programmers for
some reason refuse to completely parse it and use all the elements. I
know it is a very common practice and just always attributed it to
laziness. For instance I see it in MS help and admin files on IIS
where they completely omit the port number even though it is quite
common to install on different ports. And you see it commonly on other
applications which depend on the localhost name despite the fact that
many people do not use localhost.

It really does not make any difference to me at all so I have no
desire for additional discussion. I'll just accept the constraint as
part of the program. It would have been better if someone from
Ipswitch had responded earlier on this subject since contrary advice
has been given rather often in the last two years I've been reading
the forum posts.
