If I'm too blunt here, I apologize. However...
Please, do NOT post misinformation or speculation here UNLESS you
specifically say that is what it is. To be blunt, "'just' copying files
over to another server will NOT improve..." is purely fictional. Not only
that, you said that AFTER several very knowledgeable people on the list
told you otherwise. You are just plain wrong, and if you had taken the
time to test it, you would see that there is a *great* improvement. I have
seen the improvement firsthand. I won't go into the details of why,
because that was in the very post you were responding to!
It's fine to state your opinion or guesses or theories, IF you
clearly state that they are such. It's OK to say "I don't understand how
it would improve performance" or "I don't believe it would improve
performance". But your silly post -- deliberately stating something you
have been told is untrue as if it were a fact -- seriously misleads other
people. This isn't the first time this has happened. I wouldn't be
surprised, given the volume of this list, if several people decide not to
offload images to IIS because of your post, and they are never going to
realize what they are missing.
You're a great contributor to this list, so please do not take this
the wrong way (I learned an easier way to start the Task Manager from a
post of yours earlier this week). However, I feel it's time that someone
speaks up about this.
