Why try to teach people to type :8383 at the end of the URL while you can simply pup a start page with simple link like "Check your email" http://mail.domain.com:8383/ ?
I'm doing this and is working just fine. Is something I miss related to the use of 8383 port? If blocking ports via your router, be aware that your server will need to send traffic outbound on ports other than 25. For example, if a remote server sends incoming packets on port 25, your responses back to the remote server will be on a random port > 1024. If you only let 25 back out, your server will never respond to the remote server. I found this out the hard way. Reflexive ACL's on my Cisco router are what I'm doing now to handle this, and what I would recommend if using Cisco equipment. I run my webmail on the standard 80/443 ports.
