Len, I think this is what you are saying, but just for clarification sake,
won't the change need to happen at least one day sooner than what the
current TTL is set for?

For example, if the current TTL is 7 days, then the change to the TTL,
setting it to ten minutes, should probably be made 8 days before the MX
change in order to accommodate those that just recently cached the domain
info.  Again, this will depend on what the current TTL is set to.

At least the current MX's record's TTL value.

That's how long DNS's will cache the old MX record, say 1 day.  So 1 day 
before the switch, drop the MX TTL to 10 minutes.

After the switch, put back up to 1 or more days.
