we had same issue a few weeks ago with one of our 20+ lists - look at headers of the 2nd+ duplicate message you get and see if it details the email address it's trying to send to -
in our case, I placed my self on the list, customer sent out posting, and I got the intitial mail, then also got 4 add'l copies of it each time. All add'l copies had an X-RCPT to another address from the list, all the same address; As soon as I deleted this address from list, the problem cleared up. The bad address on list was ironically on another IMail server with another ISP - The only thing I can figure (I'm no techie) is that for whatever reason, the mail to this address was never seen as accepted or rejected by our server, so the list on our server just kept trying to deliver until it timed out.
