Ok Guys,
This thread reminded me of an issue with the our listserv sending out
duplicate copies of an email last year...
Maybe someone can shed some light on what's going on here.
We just gave up on trying to figure it out and have been scared to use the
listserv again.
If I remember correctly this list had something like 3000-4000 users on it.
We're using IMail 6.06.
I have three sets of headers here
The first is the original header.
The second is the first duplicate.
The third is the second duplicate.
At that point our client was screaming at us cause his list subscribers were
screaming at him, so we killed the list process, which of course is what we
should do. :-)
I know these are old headers but my curiousity has been fired up by the
recent discussion of duplicate emails, So TIA for any info you guys can
provide! And I apologize for the size but I figured all the headers was a
good idea. :-)
~ Mike

Subject: Re: [IMail Forum] Duplicate Emails Problem
we had same issue a few weeks ago with one of our 20+ lists - look at
headers of the 2nd+ duplicate message you get and see if it details the
email address it's trying to send to -
in our case, I placed my self on the list, customer sent out posting, and I
got the intitial mail, then also got 4 add'l copies of it each time. All
add'l copies had an X-RCPT to another address from the list, all the same
address; As soon as I deleted this address from list, the problem cleared
up.
The bad address on list was ironically on another IMail server with another
ISP - The only thing I can figure (I'm no techie) is that for whatever
reason, the mail to this address was never seen as accepted or rejected by
our server, so the list on our server just kept trying to deliver until it
timed out.
