Why don't you just forward the message to his other mailbox? If he needed to use the other address to reply to it, then you could forward and leave a copy in his mailbox so he can log into web messaging and reply to it.
I really don't see any difference in sending him a message to let him know he has new mail versus actually sending the message itself..
