I had this problem happen to me last week on 7.06.  I removed the single DNS in i-mail and stopped the service.  added it back again and started the service rebooted and everything started to work again.  dont know what happened for it to act like that except for a power failure due to isadore.  Just trying to help find a solution for you.

Subject: [IMail Forum] IMail (Big Major Problem)

  Hello All;

I am having a major issue over here? To begin with let me run you
thru what has transpired over the last year. (real quick :-) )

***Running :   Windows NT 4.0 Server SP6a | IMail 6.06 w/all SP's***

****
I was with an ISP with a Business Account w/static IP.
There business went under about 4 weeks ago. I have a 56k dialup connection
with that ISP. Now I am with
"Charter Pipeline Commercial w/Static IP 1.5 upload/download"
****
For the entire time I was with the other ISP with the Dialup account, I never had
an issue with my IMail Mail Server. But now, it seems that I cannot get it to run properly.
These are the symptoms that I am having???

I can receive mail from anyone (as long as it is a valid email)
But I cannot send out to no one?? I get a "Stack Connect Failed"
And then the message is Queued. But I cannot force it out.
I basically just delete the message after a certain amount of time.

First thing this morning, I was able to send out "1" emails.
To my Charter address, And it excepted it, with no fuss, what so ever.
I thought that everything was cleared up. But then I tried to send mail to
my "Hotmail" account, And it gave me a Stack Connect Failed and then Queued"
So from then all messages that I have attempted to send out, Are all been queued.

I have onto the Knowledge Base, and checked for the "Stack C F"
And I did what It said to do.
I also made a mistake in my DNS, and I changed It, Which was
MX :  [10]   carrz-fox-fire.com  // this is incorrect     changed to
MX :  [10]  mail.carrz-fox-fire.com

I do not know if this caused the DNS to get corrupted or not, I do know that
DNS is very picky when it comes to mistakes made.

My Static IP took when I first installed IMail, So the static IP is not an issue.
I have to use a Gateway on my "NIC Card" to go out thru "Charter Pipeline"
And I do not know if that is an issue either,

Another Error that I receive is the following.
This one is my sending an email to my Charter account now, And
any other email account. (other than my own, running from IMail Server)

////trying to send mail to my address with charter, and this is what I get
in the log files
SMTPD 550 not local host charter.net, not a gateway
///This is almost like it thinks that I am trying to use Charter as my
gateway????

///On my address with charter
SMTPD (o571021C) [24.241.172.240] ERR carrz-fox-fire.com invalid user
<
carrzkiss@charter,net
SMTPD QUIT
///That is a good address, Heck it is mine???

I Was told by one, to check the tcp/ip setting,
I went onto the IMail Knowledge Base, and typed in the "tcp/ip stack"
And found where it said that if there is anything in the
" tcp/ip properties | DNS | Domain Suffix Search Order"
To remove it...  I did have the    [  com  ] in it, So I removed it,
And then rebooted the server.

But still nothing, Not a thing, It still will not work.

Please Someone, Please give me some, a little, or just a hint of information
to help cure this issue,

Like I said, I ran this mail server for a year, with no downtime, and no issues,
Dialed up to a 56k?? But now, connected thru the NIC Card problem.

I have a "D-Link" with updated drivers, So I do not know, I am at a lost.
And usually I can figure out what is causing any issues, with IMail Server.
But not this one?????

Thank You All
Wayne
