Indeed.

I beg to differ.

Okay. How is one supposed to know if the recipient allows or is receptive to
IMail-related messages coming in directly to his or her private mail
address? I tend to err on the conservative side and assume that other
members are not interested in getting private e-mails from me, *especially*
when their content relates to some topic discussed publicly on this list.

Thank you. But this does not mean that I am barring any and all
IMail-related, privately-addressed messages to [EMAIL PROTECTED] Rather,
I expect fellow members to ask first -- sort of knocking on the door before
entering. In fact, I've helped others resolve IMail-related issues off-list
because of sensitive information, very-OT questions and suchlike. What I
tried to say is, "Do not assume that members should be expected to respond
to personal e-mail sent to them when the matter is clearly on-topic (even
though the subject line for this message still has [OT] in it").

The person who wrote to my private address actually said that I was right
about the OS topic but then quickly went off criticizing Ipswitch for lack
of support even though he has a paid Service Agreement. I think it is more
to this person's advantage to air his concerns publicly than to send them to
me.

All in good spirit (I hope)!
