Wayne,

I received your reply and I kind of understand why you wanted to send it to
my personal address. However, I think it is best to keep IMail-related
discussions public -- even at the possible cost of entailing negative
comments from others. The IMail Forum is a *public* discussion list and we
all benefit from people posting their positive or negative findings about
IMail Server.

I also understand that you are dissatisfied with Ipswitch Support as you
stated in your message to me. Several Forum members have expressed the same
feeling but it seems to me that the best way to have this situation remedied
is to post to the list, preferably using language that is not abrasive, so
that the Ipswitch staff -- who informally monitor this list -- are aware of
concerns regarding support in the context of paid Service Agreements.
Writing directly to me about this issue is not all that useful in informing
Ipswitch of your predicament or wishes and, in my view, is uncalled for.

Let's remember that the IMail Forum is a technical discussion list for
professional [I]mail administrators, as opposed to some form of IRC chat
room where one can elect to go off-channel to conduct personal discussions.
(Even then, it is considered polite to ask first if the recipient wants to
"chat" privately.)

None of the above should be construed as being voluntarily harsh, even
though it may be perceived as such. I simply wanted to convey the idea that
most of us strive to keep the IMail Forum an attractive and informative
place to discuss technical issues related to IMail.

Regards,

Guy
P.S. I shall post only my reply to the Forum so that your original e-mail
sent directly to me does not show up. However, please refrain from writing
directly to members of this Forum unless you have been expressly told that
you may.
