We have a user who discovered that he, and we, can't send email to one
particular domain.

All messages come back as undeliverable due to unknown users. Moreover,
the header always comes back as the postmaster from our domain not the
domain in question.

We've checked to see if there is an issue with us having a host alias
set up as the domain in question, we've been through our dns to check to
see if there are problems there, and we've even checked the support at
the domain itself to see if they're having problems on their end.

Bottom line: We can send email to the problem domain from anywhere else
except our Imail system. And it just seems to be this one domain that's
the issue.

Has anyone ever seen this issue? If so, what was the solution (if any).

Thanks.

b

Sorry, a 255 character limit, not 256. I guess that includes the spaces
in-between each name. Again, there is a separate field for each virtual
domain, as in:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Ipswitch\IMail\Domains\$virtual003\Aliases
and
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Ipswitch\IMail\Domains\$virtual004\Aliases

Here is the documentation quote (which I think you already read):

"Host Aliases
Specify alternate host names for which you want the host to accept mail.
For example, if the mail host name is mail.domain2.com, you can set an
alias of domain2.com so that IMail Server accepts mail addressed to
[EMAIL PROTECTED] and also [EMAIL PROTECTED] Multiple aliases are
separated by a space. This field is limited to 255 characters."

my bad:
>There is a 256 character limit for each virtual host's domain alias
>field, which is stored in the registry.

Hi all. Is there a limit to the number of aliases that can be under a
single virtual host, or on the IMail server itself?
