Are you running IMail, or are they? If it is you running IMail, they shouldn't need to assist you; if it is them running IMail, they will ultimately need to solve the problem. We are having a problem with our ISP and AOL. After talking with my ISP, they suggested the workaround of Upping the TTL setting on our mail server due to mail timing out. I am running 7.13, and have looked in the FAQ's but have found nothing so far. Any suggestions?
There is no such thing as TTL with mail settings (TTL stands for Time To Live, and is usually used for caching DNS entries). It sounds like your ISP is suggesting that you change the amount of time before IMail times out an SMTP connection. As far as I know, that can't be done.
Most likely, the problem is with AOL, as they have been having a lot of mail issues this week.
If you want to delve further into the problem, you can explain what the problem is in detail (preferably showing some log file entries), and we may be able to help.
