We are having a problem with our ISP and AOL. After talking with my ISP, they suggested the workaround of Upping the TTL setting on our mail server
TTLs are usually applied to DNS records.
That's not TTL, that's "SMTP timeouts". I don't think Imail exposes that "knob" in the GUI, but you could step through the Imail registry to see if such a timeout is in there as a default value.due to mail timing out.
But I don't think Imail SMTP timeout modification, if available in Imail, is going to help. AOL's MX are usually very efficient in sucking millions of msgs. Avg delay to send to AOL is under 5 seconds. Today, they are a bit slower:

but you can see there is not one deferral. The above is for IMGate SMTP settings (lotsa knobs to play with in IMGate) :
smtp_connect_timeout = 120s
smtp_data_done_timeout = 60s
smtp_data_init_timeout = 60s
smtp_data_xfer_timeout = 60s
smtp_helo_timeout = 60s
smtp_mail_timeout = 60s
smtp_quit_timeout = 60s
smtp_rcpt_timeout = 60s
The above are fairly generous, since they are at least 3 times longer than the average total delivery delay of today's slower AOL.
I am running 7.13, and have looked in the FAQ's but have found nothing so far. Any suggestions?If you have Imail SMTP timeouts, these will be seen in your Imail logs as deferrals of msgs when Imail tries AOL.
