Just thought i'd share this since i did research in the KB on this recently. I did find a way in imail to up the smtp timeout.
(cut and pasted the kb article here since it was short) IMail - SMTP Timeout does not conform to RFC 2821 Product: Version: Platform: IMail 7+ NT,Win2000,XP ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- Question/Problem: Is there any way to change the SMTP timeout? Answer/Solution: IMail's default timeout is 2 minutes (120 seconds). To change this, run regedit. Go to: HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\SMTPD32\Parameters Create a new DWORD value named RECVTimeout and set the timeout in seconds. The RFCs suggest a timeout of 300 seconds. Stop and restart the SMTP service. The above is for IMGate SMTP settings (lotsa knobs to play with in IMGate) : smtp_connect_timeout = 120s smtp_data_done_timeout = 60s smtp_data_init_timeout = 60s smtp_data_xfer_timeout = 60s smtp_helo_timeout = 60s smtp_mail_timeout = 60s smtp_quit_timeout = 60s smtp_rcpt_timeout = 60s The above are fairly generous, since they are at least 3 times longer than the average total delivery delay of today's slower AOL. >I am running 7.13, and have looked in the FAQ's but have found nothing so >far.
