That's a good question, and I don't think there is a definitive answer. The only difference that I know of between the "applications" and "background services" settings is the maximum timeslice (50ms in the case of applications, and 200ms in the case of background services). My opinion is that 50ms would be better for a server that people interact with (such as web or POP3), as it helps ensure quick responses (with only a minimal penalty). But, others may have a better answer.Imail/Declude Server / Win2k / Shared with specialized web server (an ad server, fwiw) / 1 Gb RAM .Should Performance Options on this box be configured for applications or background services? I searched the archives and docs, and couldn't find a definitive answer. If it's there, sorry all.
