Currently we have a Dell 2450 with an Intel Dual Port NIC and hangups
are being averted by restarting the POP3 service by command line task
schedules. I am loading a new Dell 2400 with 6 hard drives, 3 pairs each
RAID 1 in order to split, System, Logs/Spool, and User boxes as
suggested in the archives, so now I would like to try and avoid the command
line task scheduling if possible.

A lot of discussion has revolved around NIC cards on IMail boxes and
while some of the archives say 3Com 3c905b or 3c905c cards are fine,
others say you should get one with SERVER specified, such as the
3C980-TX Fast Ethernet 10/100 Server PCI Network Interface Card NIC

What is the consensus if any on this issue as to whether the 3Com cards
for workstations are fine or I should get the server specific adapter?

Anyone, not having issues with IMail connectivity, or POP3 hangups, or
basically any issues at all that may relate back to the NIC are especially
the people I would like to hear from.

Thanks in advance,

Jeff Reinhardt
