Thanks to all who responded to my post earlier this week. We are continuing
to have processor flatline problems with Imail that Ipswitch is unwilling to
assist us with beyond vague recommendations that are not really realistic.

You might not want to use the term "flatline" (which implies a server that is hung or not doing anything), whereas what you are experiencing is 100% CPU usage (which essentially means that the CPU is alive and well, but just has so much to do that it can't get to everything right away). You will *always* have 100% CPU usage. The problem is when the 100% CPU usage is sustained to the point where it is a problem (slowing things down).

When we puchased Imail, we were given the impression by Ipswitch the there
were active installations with between 30,000 and 100,000 mailboxes on a
single server with no performance degradation.

IMail can easily have 1,000,000 mailboxes on a single server with no problem.

The performance limits are based primarily on the number of E-mails sent/received per day, and how heavily used web messaging is.

A P500 running IMail can handle this load, even complete with virus and spam scanning.

Given the stats above, I see no outward reason that Imail should be
performing so poorly.

Well, the first step is to figure out if IMail really is acting poorly, or whether you are. :)

You've complained about the "flatlining", but still haven't told us what the problem is. When you use the Task Manager when this happens, and click on the "CPU" button (to sort the processes by CPU usage), what processes are highest on the list? IE, which processes are causing the problem?

This could well be something unrelated to IMail, from the information you have provided so far.

Our only real conclusion has been that there must be a
hardware compatibility issue that is preventing the Imail software from
multitasking properly.

That's not a conclusion, that's a theory, and a bad one (sorry!). It is very unlikely that IMail's ability to multitask is going to be dependent on hardware compatibility issues. And so far, there isn't any sign that IMail is at fault, so we need more information.

Are you using a souped-up LAN card (something beyond a standard 10/100 LAN card)? If so, you should try a standard LAN card.
