Bonno, Asus, IMHO, makes a fine motherboard. They don't seem to skimp on the power capacitors that feed cpu's and some of them even integrate the promise raid chip correctly. I beleive the concern with the Intel Chipset, for the NIC cards, was an earlier problem sometimes associated with wrong drivers. The mobo that you're referancing, FWIK, has no problems with the NIC Cards.
~Rick Hi, For my new mailserver I am thinking I want to use a clone machine and not an A-brand. Of course the components are going to be A-brand. One of the parts is going to be an Asus mainboard for a dual Xenon setup. The one board I have found that seems promising is the PR-DLS533 however..... Not only can I use two Xenon processors, I also seem to have 2 LAN inteterfaces, both at GIGABIT speed!!! A bit of an overkill wouldn't you say? Also according to Asus both interfaces have different Intel chipsets. Regarding the discussion we have had in this forum about Gigabit LAN interfaces I need to be sure this will not be a problem. >From the Asus site: http://www.asus.com/prog/spec.asp?m=PR-DLS533&langs=01 [....] 1 x Intel 82540 Gigabit Ethernet controller (optional Intel 82551 Fast Ethernet controller) 1 x Intel 82544 Gigabit Ethernet controller Does anybody have experience with this board, do I need to be concerned about something? Does anybody know wheter these chipsets are going to be a problem? -- Met vriendelijke groet, Bonno Bloksma ___________________________________________________________________ Virus Scanned and Filtered by http://www.FamHost.com E-Mail System.
