When I go to DNSreports.com, it says that I am missing the 'Reverse DNS
entries for MX records'.

What domain is this for?

Now CA usually handles the DNS entries for my site, so I asked them to add
the reverse DNS or PTR record, but they said that they could not.

It is often the case that the people that control the *forward* DNS do not control the *reverse* DNS. However, in this case, it seems that CA should control the reverse DNS as well, as they seem to be providing your bandwidth.

They said that 'A reverse lookup from the IP address looks to
get the record for the reverse lookup from your IP address....'

They have no clue what they are talking about. That is completely false.

However:

'... We do not handle that IP address so the lookup would not look to our servers for
that information, because of this there is nothing I can do from my end
to correct this for you. You need to setup the information for the
reverse lookup on your end.'

This part may be accurate. Without the domain name, it's hard to say who is in control of what. But if they are correct that they do not handle your IP, then they are probably correct that they do not handle the reverse DNS either.

If you can't give out the domain name, you may want to try the "Reverse DNS Lookup" tool at http://www.DNSstuff.com , which will show you who you can contact to get the reverse DNS entry.

Is that right?

So is this something I set up in imail or on my dedicated server (W2K)?

Thanks for any help.
