DNS queries are UDP, not TCP. TCP is reserved for zone transfers.
Actually, TCP is also occasionally used in DNS for large responses (>512 bytes). For example, if you use a packet sniffer and check out the reverse DNS entry for 204.96.5.30, you'll probably see that TCP is used. This is rarely an issue, but it is possible for DNS queries to use TCP.
The IP is the machine that is only serving IMail.
I bet you have w2k dns running on that machine and don't realize it?
Imail should never send a DNS query over TCP.
Actually, IMail's DNS engine does have the ability to send DNS queries over TCP. :)
