SPAMCOP is usually 4th or 5th in my tests in terms of number of
messages failing. In June to date it is 4th at 32.76%. And it does
have a low false positive rate although I don't have the exact
number. I'd say every day though that we do have spamcop failed
messages in hold that are not spam.
The worse case we've had with spamcop involved one of our own
clients who (amazing but true) submitted one of his own messages
to SPAMCOP (by error of course). SPAMCOP then listed our server
for about 2 hours during which time all of his mail failed.
SPAMCOP removed it in 2 hours or so and all was okay again. This
happened twice actually while the client was fiddling with his
automated submission program to SPAMCOP.
Almost as bad is the fact that SPAMCOP will block based on URL's
in submitted messages even when the url's are from totally
innocent parties. This is definitely something that we've seen
abused.
Obviously deciding to reject or delete on spamcop only is a
judgement decision. In our case this simply would not be in the
best interest of our clients. However, it does seem to be true
that every community of users is unique.
