I am using Outlook 2002 on a Windows 2000 Professional on my workstation PC. My server is running Windows 2000 server with Imail 8.00. I changed my out going server settings to “My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication” and “use the same settings as my incoming mail server” on the four e-mail accounts I had. I am able to receive mail on all four accounts but not able to send mail.

I receive an error message “Task mailserver – Sending’ reported error (0x800ccc0f) : ‘The connection to the server was interrupted.” Before the change I was able to send and receive on all accounts.

I am able to use telnet to the mail server to establish a connection. I can go to another computer and use the settings for these accounts and send and receive just fine. I have tuned up the hard drive ( delete tmp files, run scan disk and defrag), I have uninstalled Outlook, deleted all directories and files associated with it and edited the registry to clear all Outlook entry’s and reinstalled Outlook I still get the same error.

I know that formatting the hard drive and reinstalling everything will take care of it but I would rather find a less time consuming approach. Any help is greatly appreciated!

John
