According to Ipswitch Tech:
An email fails a VALFROM check when IMail connects to the SMTP server for the domain name mentioned in the FROM address and the
remote SMTP server reports that that email address doesn't exist on that server. So, if this email failed the check, the FROM
address (from the SMTP logs, not necessarily the headers) was not validated on the SMTP server for the domain in the from address.
Still clear as mud ;) Maybe the trusted IP has to come from the log instead of the bounce email.....

I believe that the "Trusted IP" in IMail v8's anti-spam does not act as a whitelist; instead, it just forces the IP to pass the IP-based spam tests. The E-mail will not be forced to pass the content filtering. There is no true "whitelist" that will bypass all spam tests, as far as I know.
