Good morning,
At the end of last week, we had a major storm and some of our ISP's equipment got fried, disconnecting us from the Internet for about 24 hours.
My question concerns IMAIL's behavior when there is no internet connection.
Our internal network was still working fine, so Imail was delivering all internal mail. However, when trying to send something that would normally require outbound access, IMAIL was bouncing the message as undeliverable, within about 10 mins, or less.
My understanding was that it would hold the messages in the spool. We have our IMAIL configuration to try 20 times to deliver an email, with a 30 minute interval between tries. I believe this is the default.
My question then, is, why did remote, outgoing email get returned as undeliverable almost immediately, as opposed to following the 20 tries/30min interval rules?
Is this by design? If so, what would be the reasoning here?
If it's not by design, and a configuration error on my part, where would I fix this, other than the obvious screen that already is showing the settings I mentioned above?
Thanks,
Sharyn
