Roger, If the web interface is primarily being used to simply send and receive POP/SMTP e-mail, I would highly suggest staying with ver. 8.0 of Imail, but using a different server and software program that allows users to send and receive e-mail via their web browser. You can give them one URL for administrative changes (the iMail interface) and the other strictly for sending and receiving e-mail on a daily basis. You can probably set up a cheap Linux box and use free (or nearly free) software to accomplish the same thing that Imail's web interface does, only it will be MUCH faster, more reliable, and will lighten the load on your existing Imail server.
For the record, I have close to zero experience with Linux, but the release of RedHat 9.0 finally pushed me over the edge, since it has now become stupidly simple to set up simple services like DNS, FTP, web server, etc. I was personally able to install the latest version without typing a single command line, or consulting a manual, and now have a very cheap, but incredibly stable, Linux DNS server. Some of the software packaged especially for RedHat will require you to type an instruction on a command line ONE TIME for the initial installation. I even cheated at that, by cutting and pasting the command from the online documentation for the particular software I was installing (Webmin). Since then, I have never had to touch that box. Trust me, I am a life-long Microsoft user (from the DOS days), and still believe that Imail provides the easiest (if not the cheapest anymore) solution for your e-mail server needs. I have been with Imail since ver. 5.0, I believe. However, there are many functions of Imail that can be better handled by offloading things to a separate server though, especially in the case of Webmail. It is very similar in concept to what Len is doing with FreeBSD and Imgate. If you want to just browse around at different Linux software programs that let users send/receive e-mail via the web, check out http://www.freshmeat.com or http://www.sourceforge.net . They are both excellent repositories of free or almost free software. I couldn't admin a command line Linux box if my life depended on it, but the new RH 9.0 GUI makes installs and setup a no-brainer, and its tough to beat the price of most software. Free.
