I saw some of these names in the SMTP log.
I have to plead ignorance here. Was this intended for the 550 problem?
No, it was just to give a perspective on how subscriber networks can systematically assigned PTR hostnames so the mail admins can distinguish between the SMTP gateways (policed by mail admins), the business clients (presumed innocent), and the subscriber networks (presumed guilty, and nearly always are).
Since Imail doesn't log the PTR hostnames of connecting IPs, most Imail admins can't get such a perspective as easily as IMGate admins.
