We've used the third-party RAM drive software from SuperSpeed, which works amazingly well as an accelerator. The caveat is clear: BSOD, power outage, etc. = an unknowable amount of lost mail. If you want the perf as well as some fault tolerance, you'd have to use a mirrored RAM/DASD solution like another of SuperSpeed's products or solid-state storage ($$$).
