I think Kami's test > would be great -- if sent from a local domain, but a bad user, kill the msg. Nope, Sandy is correct, it checks to confirm that the sender's e-mail address is local. However, since anyone can forge a sender's e-mail address, it does not prevent you from being an open relay, and thus why its use is not recommended.
