SMTP  AUTH  uses  the  same  userbase authentication routines as IMAP,
POP3,  etc.,  so  the userbase DLLs can't be corrupt without affecting
other  services.  However,  SMTPD32.EXE  itself  could be corrupt. Try
restoring  from  CD.  In addition, please post logs--which, as always,
are necessary to get a view of your situation.
