I am using Imail 8.03 on a dedicated remotely located Windows 2000 server. The problem is that I would like to send mail from my home computer using Imail.
When I set up Entourage on my Mac to use my imail server as my smtp server, and set the option for 'SMTP server requires authentication' I get the following error: "The SMTP server for "<<dominant>>" does not recognize any of the authentication methods supported by Entourage. To send mail, try disabling SMTP authentication in the account settings or talk to your administrator." I have a dynamic IP at home, so can't set Imail to relay mail from that IP address... Interestingly, using the OS X Mail application, it will send mail using my imail server from my home computer if I use 'MD5 Challenge Response' Authentication. If I try to use the simple 'Password' method, it doesn't recognize my password as being valid. Any ideas? I don't really want to switch to using Mail from Entourage... I have a support ticket open, but their suggestion was to upgrade from 8.01 to 8.03, which didn't change anything. Thanks.
