I’m experimenting with the list server. When I receive messages (that I’ve sent as tests by myself), they contain line after line of formatting information (font, size, etc.) so what may start out as a one-line post turns into a L-O-N-G post! I use Word as my e-mail editor and that seems to be where all that extra code is originating, but I don’t want to switch that off and I can’t expect others to do the same.
Now you've seen why most mailing lists discourage the sending of HTML formatted e-mail to the list. For example, the text your original message, sent in plain text, is 13 un-wrapped lines and 619 non-space characters. The HTML component of your message was 198 un-wrapped lines and 5,465 characters; an inflation rate of a factor of 9!
As recommended by others, you can post to the list using the webmail interface. It be worth while, though, to investigate alternate e-mail clients. My weapon of choice is Mozilla. It still offers all the formatting options that you might use while composing a message, but uses standard HTML code. Word's HTML code has a "redmond dialect" often won't render properly on non-microsoft clients. One advantage to Mozilla is that you can specify that certain destination alway receive HTML formatted messages, while others (like your list) never receive HTML mail.
