We were having problems receiving pdf attachments from one client. Seems their mail server/client wasn't putting the correct MIME type for pdf, and our firewall was interfering in some fashion. We had our provider look into it, they changed something in the firewall, and now all is well. It's a Watchguard Firebox, and we pay for a company to service it, so I'm not sure what they changed. Anyway, just wanted to let you know that it's still possible that it's something in the firewall. Then again, maybe it isn't. :-)

What's even odder is that this doesn't affect all word documents, or
even the current one having problems when sent from other mailservers. I
have tested this and it seems like it's only one particular document
from the mail server of our business partner. The same document, send
from either aol or yahoo opens fine.

I thought about the firewall too, but seeing as it's getting through
with no problems coming from other mailservers, I don't think it's the
firewall.
