I setup a new gateway server with the following specs based on suggestions
from this list.

Dell 1750
2.8Ghz Xeon
1GB Ram
128 MB Battery Backed Cache RAID CARD
3 36GB 15k SCSI
3com 3c905c 10/100 NIC

Drive 0, Drive 1 RAID 1
C: 14gb Imail\Declude
D: 5GB SWAP
E: 15gb Declude Logs ONLY! I am Offloading Imail Logs to a seperate SYSLOG.

DRIVE 1,
F: Imail Spool

I brought this server live this morning, started getting emails I was
watching the spool drive, it grew but not fast at first. I then checked it
about 45 Minutes later the spool drive had 2800 *.smd Files in it and the
\overflow about the same. I sent an Email from my Hotmail account to two
different domains that I have, that two different gateways get, but they
forward mail to the SAME Mailbox server. I received the one in about 1
minute the other about 45 minutes later. The 45 minute email traveled
through the server that I brought up this morning. I then changed the SMTP
processes on the gateway server from 30 to 60. Less than an hour later the
Spool drive has 130 *.smd Files while the overflow has none. I then sent an
email from my hotmail account and it tool about 2 minutes through the same
server that had just taken 45 minutes. My question of the day is, Are the
30 SMTP processes not enough to handle the mail without having to spool it?
Is playing with this setting appropriate in Gateway Situations?

Thanks,

Kris
