OK, I'll check that out.  I'm kind of skeptical, though, since there are
SOOO many instances in the logs.  I tell you what I did, though.  A couple
of days ago, before the first reported problem, I found and checked the
option "Auto-deny possible hack attempts", hoping that this would fend off
dictionary attacks on my server. Could this have caused the problem?
