Junctions  would  be  useful  if  you  wanted  to link two established
directory  hierarchies,  as  opposed to volume mount points, which are
designed  to  link new volumes to existing filesystems. And the latter
feature  GUI  views  and  management,  making  them preferable in many
cases.
