Title: RE: [IMail Forum] NIC shutdown

What manuf/model of NIC card is in the system?

The unit I had trouble with was a Dell Poweredge that had the Intel NIC card in it with the IMail software running for a couple of months before I got around to moving my distribution lists to it.  The system never started losing its network connection until I removed the Intel NIC card and installed the Netgear NIC card just before doing the migration.  (Newer and faster is always better, right?)  Then it started to lock up after so many hours for no reason.

I spent a week or so trying to figure out what the problem was, and finally decided to ax the super duper 1Gig card and put the old Intel Pro 100S NIC card back in.  No lockup problems since then.

Sounds like everything is set correctly, the last things that I would try is downloading the current NIC drivers and or install a new NIC.  With that said, I would rule out the hardware and start focusing on software (IMail).  I’m running IMail on Compaq servers and I don’t have NIC issues, Doug in a previous post suggested it, maybe give it a shot.

I wish I could be more helpful!

I am pinging from another server and on the server itself. The server has static routable addresses assigned. The server is a standalone in a workgroup. I tried to shutdown a bunch of services and restart them and the same thing. Only when I reboot will it start working. FYI..all the servers are dell and I have tried enabling the secondary NIC and using that and the same thing happens. I am running out of ideas.
