Gene,

Gene,

About ten days ago, I got an Event ID 55 in the event log :" The file system
structure on the disk is corrupt and unusable. Please run the chkdsk utility
on the volume D: "

It is a pretty scary message, but the system is working fine.

While running chkdsk in read-only mode, I get stuff like this:

CHKDSK is verifying indexes (stage 2 of 3)...

Deleting index entry Dd8fe0567014c063d.SMD in index $I30 of file 2768.

Deleting index entry DD8FE0~1.SMD in index $I30 of file 2768.

And when I run chkntfs d: I get : The type of the file system is NTFS. D:
is dirty. You may use the /C option to schedule chkdsk for this drive.

I think that something happened in the I/O activity in the Imail spool.
Perhaps it is just a matter of letting chkdsk make its work a boot time to
fix those indexes and lost chains.

Since chkdsk /f is a slow process, I wonder if there is some tool that can
do this job on-line.

Mario Antonio
