For my part, I realize that Imail DOES do everything they claim, it just may not do it very well or exactly the way I want it done. The reason Declude is so often recommended is because a user is asking for something that Imail either won't do, or doesn't do well. If Declude specifically applies to the original question, I don't see it as a sales pitch to hear it recommended (i.e. "Imail SORT of does this, but if you want to do it THIS way, you'll need Declude.").
Sometimes, though, there IS a sales pitch where someone is just asking for clarification on existing functionality within Imail. If the answer is "This is the answer to your question BUT Declude does it better", well that is uncalled for, IMO. Thanks Scott for the leads after being offended (though it wasn't my intent at all). I wasn't saying that to ditch Declude as I've never looked at what it's offering. But too often in this "imail forum" the proposed solution to some problems other people have (that I also have) ends up being "Solution: Declude"... So, to come back to the topic of this thread, I already looked at the SMTP and SPAM logs for the email in question and for some unknown reason, it doesn't get the domain white list though if I look around, other emails (before and after) are getting white listed?!?!? I was inquiring about the Received: entry in the header 'cause sometimes it differs from the email domain. I highly doubted that too but it was just a wild guess as to why it's not picking up certain white list entry... Would there be any white list file size limit that would make it behave strangely? (here's another far fetch attempt at finding the solution!) Thanks all in advance for any suggestion you can provide gd -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Chris Moody Sent: Wednesday, June 30, 2004 2:02 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: [IMail Forum] Trusted Addresses question I agree with Laura, although I can understand where the sentiment about the sales pitch comes from. Many folks were sold on Imail being a one stop solution for handling email with anti-spam and ant-virus (if you buy their add on), only to find it doesn't work as well as it was advertised. When folks join the list for help, they often face threads trumpeting third party solutions (yes frequently Declude) for issues they were sold on Imail handling. For many it gets frustrating to find you spent $500 or more dollars and need to spend another $400 for third party software to make things work as well as they were hyped too. I don't think anyone (besides Len :) would dispute Scott's technical ability or that Declude is "all that and a bag of chips too". Given that the list is about "Imail", I think plugs for third party solutions are best given after any helpful advice about getting things to work within Imail itself. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Laura Bhandari" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Wednesday, June 30, 2004 1:05 PM Subject: RE: [IMail Forum] Trusted Addresses question > > I didn't read Guy's email to be any sort of attack on Declude (or Scott).
